AEW Capital Management has announced that Jeff Furber, global chairman, will retire at the end of 2023 after a distinguished career in real estate spanning 38 years.
Furber joined AEW in 1997, and from 1999 to 2020 served as CEO. Under his leadership, AEW experienced extraordinary growth, expanding from a small, U.S.-focused firm with $8 billion of assets under management to a $90 billion global real estate platform with 17 offices and 800 professionals offering institutional investors diversified real estate strategies in North America, Europe and Asia.
In 2020, Furber transitioned from CEO into a newly created role as global chairman to oversee the completion of a firmwide leadership succession plan that the firm initiated several years earlier.
