A joint venture consisting of Actis and GS E&C, the construction arm of Korean conglomerate GS Group, are planning to build and operate a 21-megawatt internet data center (IDC) in Greater Seoul.

Actis will hold a 75 percent stake in the new joint venture.

The eight-story IDC will be capable of hosting top-tier cloud service providers (CSPs), allowing them to address a significant mismatch between supply and demand in Seoul, according to Actis. It will be built to Tier 3 standards, feature 1,600 high-density racks for CSP clients, and a further 400 low-density racks for co-location customers. The facility, which is GS E&C’s 10th data center project, will carry a development cost of $315 million.
