30 of the world’s leading asset managers sign net-zero initiative

A group of major global asset managers representing more than $9 trillion of assets have launched an initiative to support the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or earlier.

Under the new Net Zero Asset Managers initiative, asset managers will seek to reduce emissions within the sectors and companies in which they invest. As part of the agreement, the members of the initiative have agreed to partner with asset owner clients on decarbonization goals; set an interim target for the proportion of assets to be managed in line with goal of net-zero emissions by 2050; and review this interim target at least every five years, with a view to ratcheting up the proportion of assets under management covered until 100 percent of assets are included.
