$2t economic stimulus package passes in House and Senate, advances to president

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a historic $2 trillion economic stimulus package to help ease the nationwide financial burden caused by the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19. Earlier this week, the Senate unanimously approved the package with a 96-0 vote, according to CNN Politics.

The bill will now advance to President Donald Trump for his signature.

According to NPR, the stimulus package can be broken down as follows: individuals will receive $560 billion, followed by big corporations with $500 billion and small businesses with $377 billion. State and local governments will receive $340 billion, public health $154 billion, education/other will get $44 billion, and a safety net fund, which includes child nutrition, food stamps and food banks, will receive $26 billion.
