$1.5b mixed-use project to be developed in Miami

Construction on the $1.5 billion, urban-styled Metropica complex in the Ft. Lauderdale suburb of Sunrise, Fla., is under way, according to Miami Curbed.

The property is located at the Sawgrass Expressway and Sunrise Boulevard

The 65-acre project will feature eight residential towers with a total of 2,250 units; a central park; 650,000 square feet of office space; two 240-room boutique hotels; a beach club; tennis courts; a fitness center and spa; and 485,000 square feet of retail.

The first tower will be completed by December 2018, while the entire Metropica complex is scheduled to be completed in 2021.

On Feb. 22, the first of eight planned 28-story, luxury residential towers was topped off. The units are 65 percent sold, and move-in dates are planned for later this year, according to local media outlets.
