Cortland has appointed Sam Scherer as director of client relations and capital markets. In this role, Scherer will focus on capital formation efforts across all investment strategies and vehicles, with an emphasis on U.S.-based institutional investors and consultants in the Western United States.
Scherer will cultivate and manage key institutional relationships, contribute to capital-raising strategy, and collaborate with senior leadership to position Cortland in the market.
Most recently, he served as vice president and then director of capital markets at Virtus Real Estate Capital, where he focused on investor engagement and capital-formation efforts. Scherer began his career in the U.S. Army, including service in the 75th Ranger Regiment.
