Ohio State Teachers' Retirement System (Ohio STRS) has recorded a preliminary total fund return of +3.85 percent for the month of July, according to a recent board meeting document.
The total fund return for June was -4.4 percent,
Ohio STRS’ total investment assets decreased by $7.2 billion during fiscal year 2022 and ended at about $87.6 billion.
The pension fund said the real estate asset class was positive, and that rebalancing activity was driven by markets and asset allocation phase-in. As part of the rebalancing, the pension fund added domestic equities, and reduced international equities and alternative investments.
Domestic equity, international equities and fixed-income had negative returns.
The total fund fiscal year 2022 return was -3.61 percent, yet Ohio STRS outperformed the total fund benchmark return of -5.62 percent.
