Grontmij joins with Dutch pension fund ASR Nederland

by Released

Pensioenfonds Grontmij has announced plans to transfer its obligations and assets to a new type of pension fund from Dutch insurer ASR Nederland.

This concerns the accrued pension entitlements of 6,700 former participants and more than €1 billion ($1.1 billion) in assets.

The more than 1,500 employees of engineering consultancy firm Sweco Nederland are also going to build up their pension through the Dutch pension fund. This concerns a premium volume of €16 million ($17 million). Grontmij was acquired by Sweco in 2015.

The scheme will be continued unchanged, according to ASR.

In the APF legal form, or general pension fund, different employers can have their own pension scheme, which is managed by the same party. They get their own “pension circle,” with their own stakeholder body, with representatives from the employer, employees and pension beneficiaries. They retain participation in the investment and premium policy.
