There are now enough ultra-high-net-worth families around the world to fill a football stadium, and the number of $30-million-plus families is expanding about 2 percent per year. Fifty percent of their portfolios, on average, are devoted to illiquid investments, and they hold five- to 10-times more cash than high-net-worth families.
