U.S. equity real estate investment trust capital market activity fell sharply in August as the industry raised a total of $702.3 million for the month, an 85 percent decline from the $4.68 billion collected in July and just about half of the $1.42 billion secured a year earlier.
Of the total, $500 million came through debt offerings. Common equity offerings accounted for $194.7 million, while the remaining $7.6 million was obtained through preferred equity offerings, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data.
