Real estate remains a cornerstone of family office portfolios

North America’s wealthiest families are shifting their investment strategies, favoring private credit and real estate over riskier startup ventures, reported Business Insider, citing the North America Family Office Report 2025 by Campden Wealth and RBC Wealth Management.

Private markets now make up 29 percent of the average family office portfolio — a share that continues to rise. With surveyed families holding an average of $2 billion in wealth and managing $1.5 billion in assets, this allocation represents roughly $62 billion invested in private markets. Real estate remains a cornerstone of family wealth, with about 75 percent of family offices holding property, particularly in industrial, logistics, and residential sectors.
