Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners to build U.K.’s largest solar PV project

by Kali Persall

Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has acquired what is expected to be the largest single-site solar photovoltaic installation in the United Kingdom, Project Fortress.

The solar-plus-battery storage project is expected to be more than three times the size of the United Kingdom’s next-largest consented solar photovoltaic project. It will generate 350 megawatts of energy to provide critical support to the U.K. grid and help enable the reduction of carbon emissions from the U.K. power sector.

“We believe Project Fortress is a landmark transaction on many fronts and represents a new frontier in U.K. solar teamed with large-scale battery storage,” said Rory Quinlan, co-founder and managing partner of Quinbrook. “We have been immersed in large-scale solar and storage in the U.S. for many years, and we can apply our significant experience in project design and equipment selection to ensure Fortress becomes the new benchmark for renewables that support the U.K. grid rat
