The global population of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) grew 7.8 percent, and that group’s wealth grew 8 percent in 2021 because of recovering economies being boosted by the stock market, according to Capgemini’s 2022 World Wealth Report (WWR).
North America continued along its growth trajectory, boasting the highest increase in HNWI population (13.2 percent) and wealth (13.8 percent). From an overall growth-rate standpoint, Asia Pacific’s lackluster 2021 HNWI growth in population (4.2 percent) and wealth (5.4 percent) put the region, which had dominated HNWI growth over the past decade, into third place.
