Harvest Midstream has formed a new company in partnership with NOVUS Wood Group.
The new company, MaderaGas I, will seek to develop a greenfield facility near Houston to convert wood waste to renewable natural gas (RNG) on a commercial scale. NOVUS will provide all the wood waste feedstock to the project from its existing facility.
“Harvest is a company built on entrepreneurship and innovation,” Harvest CEO Jason Rebrook said. “This project is a first of its kind and demonstrates our commitment to renewable energy and to delivering the energy resources that fuel American families and business.”
The MaderaGas plant will consist of five production trains, each of which will process 100,000 tons of wood waste annually into 1 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of renewable natural gas per year, yielding a total of 5Bcf of gas annually if fully developed. Construction for Train 1 could begin in early 2023 with completion expected in 2024.
