Nevada is rolling out a number of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as part of the second development phase in its Nevada Electric Highway (NEH) program, a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) and NV Energy aiming to create an “electric highway” system in the state by 2020.
NV Energy said the first phase of the program placed charging stations at cost-effective and strategic locations along U.S. 95 between Reno and Las Vegas. The utility company said it would work with partners to identify locations along the highway corridors with no more than approximately 50 miles between each station.
Ideal locations would be no more than two miles from the highway, have sufficient public amenities, and would be located in specific areas identified on NV Energy’s website. [View the project here.]
