Mesirow, an independent, employee-owned financial services firm, has announced that Shawn Beber will serve as the firm’s next CEO. After an extensive search, Mesirow’s board of directors voted unanimously to appoint Beber to the role.
Beber joins Mesirow after more than two decades at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), where he held several senior leadership roles across businesses as well as functional areas, including U.S. commercial banking and wealth management, risk management, legal, and strategy and corporate development.
Most recently, he served as president and CEO of CIBC Bank USA, where he successfully led the bank through a period of economic and market uncertainty. Beber played a crucial role in CIBC’s successful expansion in the United States, including the $5 billion acquisition of The Private Bank in 2017, which was a foundational transaction for CIBC’s growing U.S. presence.
