Mainstream Renewable Powerand Ocean Winds secure 1.8GW offshore wind farm rights

Mainstream Renewable Power, a global renewable energy company majority-owned by Aker Horizons, and Ocean Winds are the preferred bidders in the latest ScotWind leasing round.

They were selected by Crown Estate Scotland for an area with the potential for a 1.8-gigawattt offshore wind farm off the Shetland Islands in Scotland. Mainstream and Ocean Winds, which hold a 50-50 ownership, can now enter into an option agreement for the site, which is located in about 100 meters (328 feet) of water depth. The site output is expected to power the equivalent of more than 2 million homes.
