Los Angeles Purple Line (D Line) Extension Project under way

The Purple Line (D Line) Extension Project in Los Angeles is under way, led by global development and construction firm Skanska, in collaboration with Traylor Brothers, Inc. and J.F. Shea Construction.

The 9-mile addition will extend the Los Angeles Metro Purple Line past its current terminus in Koreatown through Beverly Hills to West Los Angeles, bringing seven new public-transit stations to a city in need of transportation solutions. The project will increase public transportation and improve access to housing, while reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.

Federally funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, the project will be paid for through a multi-billion-dollar design-build contract with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

In October, President Biden discussed plans for the LA Metro Purple project during a trip to Los Angeles, applauding the project for creating local jobs and combating air pollution. Biden said
