Swerdlow Group with its partners has broken ground on Sawyer’s Walk, a 1.4 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood, reported local media outlets.
It’s a block west of the Overtown Metrorail station and just south of the Interstate 95 exit ramp.
The mixed-use project will add 578 apartments for low-income individuals, and 250,000 square feet of retail space to be occupied by major retail brands such as Target, Aldi, Burlington, Five Below and Ross Dress for Less. The development also will feature a public parking garage with 955 spaces, and a 25,000-square-foot public plaza. Other amenities include a rooftop pool deck, a clubhouse and entertainment lounge, meeting rooms, and a complimentary health club membership for all residents.
The joint venture Block 55 Owner consists of Swerdlow Group, Delray Beach, Fla.–based SJM Partners and Miami resident Alben Duffie.
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2023.
