John Blumberg, co-founder of Black Creek Group, a real estate investment management firm and sponsor of nontraded direct investment programs, has passed away.
Black Creek Group was founded in 1993 and Blumberg served as its managing principal.
He also was a co-founder of Mexico Retail Properties. In addition, he served as a director of Black Creek Diversified Property Fund since January 2006, and also as the chairman of the board of directors from January 2006 to September 2012 and chairman of the investment committee from 2006 to present. Blumberg was a manager of Black Creek Diversified Property Advisors, the adviser to Black Creek Diversified Property Fund; BCI IV Advisors, the adviser to Black Creek Industrial REIT IV; and Industrial Property Advisors, the adviser to Industrial Property Trust.
Blumberg was active in real estate acquisition, development and redevelopment activities for Black Creek Group since 1993, and as of June 30, 2018, he oversaw directly, or indirectly through affiliated entities, the acquisition, development, redevelopment, financing and sale of real properties having a combined value of approximately $18.2 billion.
