Historic NYC hotel sells for $80m for conversion into residential apartments

by Andrea Zander

Emmut Properties has acquired The Excelsior Hotel, a century-old landmark on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, for $80 million. The seller was Harry Krakowski.

The 15-story building is a landmark, originally opened as a residential hotel in 1922, under the name of The Hotel Standish Hall. It became the Excelsior sometime in the 1950s.

The property totals 133,00 square feet with 215 rooms.

The new owner plans to convert the hotel into residential apartments, reported Crain’s New York Business and Commercial Observer.
