GM, EVgo to triple charging network

General Motors and EVgo, an electric vehicle charging station provider, have plans to add 2,700 public fast-charging stations in 40 metropolitan areas across the United States over the next five years, a move that would triple EVgo's existing charging network.

Full terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

The new charging stations will be prioritized in public areas such as apartment buildings, retail spaces and other high-traffic locations, with intentions to also make them available for ride-hailing and delivery drivers.

EVgo has about 800 stations across 34 states, serving more than 200,000 customers.

The new EVgo fast chargers will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Both GM and EVgo have made significant investments and commitments to running on renewable energy.
