FINTRX: 7.2%of independent RIAs actively invest in ESG

FINTRX has found 7.2 percent of independent registered investment advisers are active environmental, social and governance (ESG) investors, based on an analysis of 12,895 firms nationwide. The data identified 932 Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) whose regulatory disclosures and platform information indicate they actively consider ESG factors in their investment processes. Vermont had the highest concentration at 20.6 percent, although the state has only 34 independent RIAs, followed by Hawaii at 16.7 percent. Among states with larger adviser populations, Colorado led at 12 percent, followed by Massachusetts at 11.7 percent, Minnesota at 11.3 percent, New Hampshire at 11 percent and Pennsylvania at 10.6 percent. New York reported a 9.6 percent concentration, while California, which has the country’s largest independent RIA population at 1,780 firms, recorded a 6.3 percent rate.
