Franklin Templeton, through its leading real estate subsidiary Clarion Partners, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Stoneshield Capital. The transaction will triple Clarion’s European assets under management (AUM) to €11 billion ($13 billion), increase Clarion’s total AUM by 12 percent to €72 billion ($82 billion), and bring Franklin Templeton’s total alternatives AUM to more than €265 billion ($300 billion).
Stoneshield is a European sector-specialist real assets manager with €8 billion ($9 billion) under management. The firm’s investment strategies are thematic and focused on supply-constrained sectors, including living and student housing, digital infrastructure, science and innovation, hospitality, and critical infrastructure.
