EOLINK aims to complete its final phase of the France-Atlantique project by installing a 5-megawatt (MW) floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) in 2024.
The French engineering firm’s 5-megawatt wind turbine is a precommercial version of the more than 15-megawatt units EOLINK intends to install with its patented four-mast pyramid structure, which is 45 percent lighter compared with a single-turbine mast and allows 10 percent additional energy output by using longer turbine blades. The final investment decision, taken in November last year, was a decisive step for the subsea anchor system manufacturing and installation, as well as for the FOWT unit that is due to be towed to the site and commissioned in 2024.
