Duke Energy has completed three battery projects in Florida totaling nearly 34 megawatts.
The facilities include an 18-megawatt lithium battery site, located at the company's 45-megawatt Lake Placid Solar Power Plant in Highlands County; an 11-megawatt Trenton lithium battery facility in Gilchrist County; and a 5.5-megawatt Cape San Blas lithium battery facility in Gulf County.
The facilities will help modernize grid operations, improve overall reliability and support critical services during power outages.
Duke Energy believes energy storage plays a significant and evolving role in how energy is delivered to customers. In 2022, Duke Energy will have six battery sites in operation in Florida totaling 50 megawatts of energy storage.
