by Lewis Dayton

Don Plaus is joining Citigroup as head of the North America, Citi Private Bank, according to multiple media reports, where he will replace the retiring Halé Behzadi.

Plaus will join Citi after a long career at Merrill Lynch, where he spent more than 18 years as a managing director at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Plaus began working at the firm in 1990 as a financial adviser, eventually becoming a sales manager, a district sales manager, a resident vice president and a director, before his promotion to regional managing director of the Mid-South region in September 2005.

Plaus graduated with a bachelor’s degree from State University at Albany, N.Y. He serves as a board member of the Alzehimer’s Association, New York Chapter, which provides programs and services for Alzheimer’s support in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens.
