Chicago has the most green office space in the U.S.

by Andrea Waitrovich

The Windy City is now the Green Windy City as Chicago claimed first place, beating out San Francisco, last year’s leader and this year’s runner-up, according to the 2017 National Green Building Adoption Index, published by CBRE and Maastricht University.

Chicago increased its percentage of green office stock by a relative increase of 6.5 percent to a year-end total of 66 percent. San Francisco came in at 62 percent. Atlanta (55.1 percent), Houston (53.2 percent) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (50.9 percent) rounded out the list of the five cities with the most certified green office space.
