The Windy City is now the Green Windy City as Chicago claimed first place, beating out San Francisco, last year’s leader and this year’s runner-up, according to the 2017 National Green Building Adoption Index, published by CBRE and Maastricht University.
Chicago increased its percentage of green office stock by a relative increase of 6.5 percent to a year-end total of 66 percent. San Francisco came in at 62 percent. Atlanta (55.1 percent), Houston (53.2 percent) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (50.9 percent) rounded out the list of the five cities with the most certified green office space.
