CalPERS invests $700m in Brookfield’s fifth Strategic Real Estate Partners fund

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has invested $700 million in Brookfield’s Strategic Real Estate Partners (BSREP) V.

BSREP V, a closed-end, opportunistic fund with a target of $18 billion, invests in properties in North America, Brazil, Europe and Australia.

CalPERS had $537.7 billion in total assets under management as of March 31, 2025. As of then, it had $49 billion in total real estate assets with a 10 percent real estate allocation target.
