by Kali Persall

Dallas-based Avery Capital has raised $17.5 million for its Avery Capital Real Estate Fund I, according to a recent filing with the SEC.

The fund launched in February with a $100 million fundraising target and has picked up six investors, to date.

Avery Capital is a commercial real estate private equity fund founded by Avery Johnson, the former professional and collegiate basketball player and coach, in partnership with John Bailey, founder and CEO of The Allan Bailey Group.

Avery Capital focuses on providing investors with stable cash flows through low-risk and high-yield acquisitions and dispositions. The firm’s first fund will invest in properties across the United States.
