Aligned has plans to expand its hyperscale data center campus in Ashburn, Va., beginning construction on a second 120-megawatt facility in Loudoun County. The expansion is driven by customer demand for additional capacity and Aligned’s Expand on Demand infrastructure in the data center market’s epicenter.
Expanding on Aligned’s existing 370,000-square-foot, 60-megawatt Ashburn data center completed in 2019, the adjacent new 513,000-square-foot facility will add 120 megawatts upon completion. At full build, Aligned’s master-planned Ashburn hyperscale campus will offer approximately 1 million square feet of space and 180 megawatts of capacity. The campus sits positioned atop fiber and conduit routes that offer access to more than 50 carriers in the immediate area. It is also among the few in the region that will draw critical power from multiple diverse 230-kilovolt substations for maximum redundancy.
