Google is planning to funnel $150 million into clean energy projects within the countries that make its products.
The announcement was made at the Made by Google event in New York City, which took place on Oct. 15.
The technology giant launched a slew of new gadgets, including a cloud video game streaming service, wireless earbuds, Nest hardware, a laptop and a phone, all scheduled to hit the market in the coming months.
Google pledged its commitment to sustainability, noting that the company believes it has the ability and responsibility to create systemic change.
“When you choose to buy hardware products from Google, you’re contributing to bringing renewable energy to communities around the world,” said Rick Osterloh, head of Google hardware at the event.
