Another billionaire to donate fortune to charity

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, who has an estimated worth of $4.53 billion, has plans to give 80 percent to 90 percent of that wealth to charity when he dies, according to an interview with Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He plans to make donations to charitable causes that include medical discoveries and treatments for kids with autism, and creating 20 to 25 centers across the country to aid veterans suffering from brain injuries and PTSD.

The billionaire has donated more than $2 billion to philanthropic causes, including $250 million to build the Georgia Aquarium. The businessman could donate up to $6 billion in his lifetime, reported Fox News.

Warren Buffett also announced on Monday that he would donate about $3.6 billion in Berkshire Hathaway shares to five foundations as part of that pledge, and Mackenzie Bezos, who became one of the world’s richest women following her divorce from Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, also joined the philanthropic promise earlier this year.
