Report: North America greenfield deals on the rise, brownfield remains steady

The number of infrastructure greenfield deals have increased in North America in the third quarter of the year, with the brownfield market remaining stable, according to a new report from Inframation and Sparkspread.

According to the report, there were 392 transactions, valued at $116.9 billion in North America in the first three quarters of the year, up from 340 ($107 billion) from the same time last year, 254 ($89.9 billion) in 2017 and 272 ($79 billion) in 2016.

The energy, power, renewables and transportation sectors showed the most activity [see chart below].

In addition, greenfield public-private partnerships accounted for 15 deals valued at $6.62 billion, one deal short of last year, and up from 11 ($2.1 billion) in 2017 and 18 ($11.6 billion) in 2016.
