Landmark Properties to invest in student housing developments

Landmark Properties will develop seven new student housing properties totaling 4,450 beds in six states across the United States.

It will increase the firm’s total assets under construction to more than $2.9 billion.

The communities are spread across six states — California, Florida, Georgia, New York, Texas and Washington .

The announced developments include The Mark at Athens (Phase II) near the University of Georgia; The Retreat at Sacramento near California State University, Sacramento; The Standard at Coral Gables near the University of Miami; The Standard at Berkeley near the University of California – Berkeley; The Station at Buffalo near the State University of New York at Buffalo; The Mark at Austin near the University of Texas; and The Retreat at Pullman near Washington State University.

The Retreat at Pullman near Washington State University will have 187 detached homes and 767 beds. The Retreat will be located 1.2 miles north of WSU’s campus. The Retreat will be WSU’s first cottage-style community, offering an entirely new product to the student housing market in Pullman. Scheduled delivery is August 2020.

The Retreat at Sacramento near Sacramento State University is a 224-unit, 736-bed cottage-style community located 0.15 miles from campus. Scheduled delivery is August 2020.

The Mark at Athens (Phase II) near University of Georgia will add 446 beds to the development, which originally opened in 2018 and has been fully leased since. Located adjacent to the University campus and downtown Athens, Ga., Phase II of The Mark at Athens adds nearly 160,000 square feet of residential area and 20,000 square feet of commercial retail space. Scheduled delivery is August 2021.

The Standard at Coral Gables near University of Miami will add 376 bedrooms and more than 160,000 square feet of residential space. The development will include nearly 17,000 square feet of commercial retail space on the ground floor. The property is located 0.35 miles from campus. Scheduled delivery is August 2021.

The Standard at Berkeley near University of California – Berkeley is a 407-bed urban infill project. The mixed-used development also includes more than 8,200 square feet of commercial retail space on the ground floor. Scheduled delivery is August 2021.

The Station at Buffalo near State University of New York at Buffalo is a townhome community featuring 196 homes and 749 beds. The mixed-use community also will feature nearly 10,500 square feet of commercial retail space. Scheduled delivery is August 2021.

The Mark at Austin near University of Texas is a mixed-use development located just three blocks from campus. The Standard at Austin will include 975 beds with floorplans ranging from studios to six-bedroom units. In addition to more than 325,600 square feet in residential space, the development also will include 2,900 square feet of commercial retail space on the ground floor. Scheduled delivery is August 2023.

Landmark Properties was recently named the nation’s most active student housing developer, according to an industry analysis by Student Housing Business, for the second consecutive year. Over the next four years, Landmark Properties has a pipeline that includes 34 new developments across the country totaling 23,316 beds. The second-most active developer on the Student Housing Business ranking has a pipeline of 33 projects and 15,906 beds.
