Staying in the 40’s: 41 new investment funds were launched during second quarter 2016
A total of 41 new investment funds were launched during second quarter 2016, bringing the midyear total to 88 new funds. As a group, the second quarter funds are seeking to raise approximately $21.4 billion.
The number of funds launched remained in the 40’s making it the third quarter in a row with over 40 funds; the fourth quarter 2015 launched 41 funds and the first quarter 2016 launched 47 funds.
The Americas strategy lead the way for the geographic focus during the second quarter with a targeted fundraising volume of $10 billion (46.6 percent) as well as holding the largest fund launched in the second quarter 2016.
DRA Advisors DRA Growth & Income Fund IX, a closed-end value-added fund launched in mid-April is seeking to raise approximately $1.5 billion. The fund has a year-end target close date and will be investing in unconstrained properties.
