Real estate secondary transaction volume reaches $7.2b in 2019

Landmark Partners tallied 127 real estate secondary transactions, representing approximately $7.2 billion of net asset value (NAV) that closed or were placed under contract in 2019.

Landmark Partners is a longstanding investor in the real estate secondary market and has tallied NAV traded and other market statistics since 1996. The firm compiles data on transactions that are closed or under-contract from a wide universe of sources, including its own transaction experience and ongoing dialogue with other key market participants.

Aggregate dollar volume of $7.2 billion represents the second-highest volume Landmark has recorded, behind the $8.2 billion of aggregate volume in 2015. Activity during 2019 represents a 36 percent increase from the $5.3 billion transacted in 2018 and puts the last three-year average volume at $6.2 billion.
