German investors surge back to London office market

by Andrea Zander

German investors have surged back into the City of London office market in 2021, investing £847 million (€997 million/$1.2 billion) by mid-September, a four-year high and the second-highest investment volume since 2013, with the traditionally busiest quarter of the year still to come, according to Savills.

The international real estate adviser says that 2021 investment turnover by German buyers to date is 59 percent up on 2020’s full-year turnover of £532.5 million (€627 million/$725 million) and 194 percent up on 2019’s total of £287.8 million (€338.8 million/$391.87 million). Currently, volumes this year are second only to 2017’s total of £1.182 billion (€1.39 billion/$1.61 billion).
