Fund managers planning to give greater focus to overseas markets for capital raising

Fund managers are planning to place a greater focus on overseas markets in order to raise capital, reveals new research from Carne Group, a leader in fund regulation and governance solutions for the asset management industry.

Almost a fifth of U.S. fund managers surveyed reported that they plan to raise capital in Continental Europe for the first time this year, while 30 percent of U.K. fund managers said they would be doing so for the first time.

Similarly, 33 percent of European fund managers (ex-U.K.) said they plan to raise capital in the United Kingdom for the first time this year.

Altogether, 83 percent of fund managers surveyed said they expect the amount of fundraising by real estate funds to be greater in 2024 than it was in 2023, while those numbers are 78 percent for private equity funds, 66 percent for private debt and 56 percent for hedge funds.
