Challenging macroeconomic forecast across all investment types

Expect challenging macroeconomics across all investment types, with real estate seen as a favorable option in light of market headwinds and increasing inflation, with central bank interventions uncertain in first quarter 2022, according to UBS in its Real Estate Outlook 2022.

Industrial assets are driving momentum in U.S. and U.K. markets, with U.K. retail assets seeing strong recovery.

In U.S. markets, industrial investment recorded a 43-percent total return for the year, against 36 percent in a strong U.K. market.

In European markets, life sciences are poised for growth, driven by strong investor appetite and strong fundamentals, even as the pandemic recedes.

In APAC markets, industrial and logistics performed strongly, with ESG criteria seen as key in the recovery of the office market in 2022.
