CBRE Report: Omnichannel retail and its impact on Asia Pacific real estate

The size of the global retail market totalled $15.6 trillion in 2021, with Asia Pacific accounting for a 40 percent share. While the pandemic has accelerated the growth of ecommerce, offline retail remains the dominant sales channel, according to CBRE in its latest research report, Omnichannel Retail and its Impact on APAC Real Estate.

Asia Pacific will contribute 90 percent of ecommerce sales growth between 2021–2026, outpacing the rest of the world. Favorable demographics, the adoption of digital wallets and a vibrant ecommerce ecosystem will continue to underpin rapid ecommerce growth in the region.

Korea, mainland China, Indonesia and Australia will be among the world’s top five most penetrated ecommerce markets by 2026. Emerging Southeast Asia will see the sharpest increase.
