On trend: IREI’s annual survey of investors takes the industry’s pulse during an uncertain time
The past year made an excellent case for the advantages of investing in alternative asset classes, such as real estate. Institutional investors saw their overall investment portfolios decline amid falling stock values, while alternatives showed impressive strength. In fact, the outperformance of alternative assets has raised the issue of the denominator effect for many organisations.
One of the challenges of investing in alternative assets is the more limited amount of information available regarding investment trends. Into that informational void, however, Institutional Real Estate, Inc has been publishing an annual survey of institutional investors’ plans and intentions regarding private real estate investment. The annual investor survey is in its 26th year overall and its 10th year as a global initiative.
