Large majority of CEE workers want to work in the office

by Marek Handzel

A large majority of workers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) want to return to the office.

A study conducted by Skanska has revealed that only 20 percent of a sample of 1,200 office workers — based in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary — prefer working from home.

The main reasons for staff wishing to return to the office are a need to have a clear separation between work and home life; having direct conversations with co-workers; a lack of office equipment; and the increased costs of maintaining their home as a place in which to work. Some 40 percent of survey respondents have told Skanska that they have suffered from not being able to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Another major difficulty indicated by employees is limited social life and monotony.
