Four years after the pandemic first hit the United States, prompting millions to work remotely, office visits are increasing, according to the data in the Placer.ai Office Index: February 2024 Recap. The report finds that in February, office visits nationwide were down 31.3 percent compared with February 2020 (the last “normal” in-office month before the pandemic) but up 18.6 percent year-over-year.

The index found:
February spike: As noted, visits in February saw an uptick, increasing almost 19 percent year-over-year.
Cities: Miami and New York lead the office recovery, with February visits down only 9.4 percent and 14.5 percent, respectively, compared with February 2020.
