Despite the pressing need for a critical nationwide revamp, the United States is spending less on infrastructure than it spent in the 1930s, a new report from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has revealed.
According to the report titled Changing the Infrastructure Equation: Using Asset Management to Optimize Investments, the U.S. is expected to underinvest in infrastructure by more than $2 trillion by the year 2025. The research noted that from 2003 to 2017, public spending on roads, bridges, water systems and more dipped by 8 percent, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
