U.S. advisers are anticipating a 2022 economic rally

A rally is coming in the second half of 2022, according to a survey of 300 U.S. financial advisers by Natixis Investment Managers, giving a window into how advisers are viewing the markets during the balance of this year.

Among the report’s highlights:

The stock market is forecast to finish the year in positive territory, depending on inflation, with advisers predicting the S&P 500 will ultimately post a gain of 4.4 percent. Advisers think alternatives are more attractive in the current market, with 69 percent agreeing that rising rates and inflation have made commodities more appealing. Some 41 percent said the same of infrastructure investments. Two-thirds say that increasing fixed-income allocations is a challenge, mostly because investors don’t understand bonds, with 36 percent saying the benefits of bonds in portfolio construction aren’t obvious to most investors.
