Tishman Speyer to redevelop 178-acre site in Pittsburgh

Tishman Speyer has been appointed to transform the 178-acre site, former steel-mill site, Hazelwood Green in Pittsburgh, into a global center for new facilities for science and engineering research.

The owner is the Almono Limited Partnership and Carnegie Mellon University. The Almono Limited Partnership consists of a joint venture of the Richard King Mellon Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.

Hazelwood Green is nearly half the size of downtown Pittsburgh. Almono and Tishman Speyer expect to deliver millions of square feet of new mixed-use development over the coming decade. The project will consist of new affordable, market-rate apartments, parks, open spaces, shops and eateries run by small, local retailers, and other community amenities.
