Stellantis, DTE Energy add 400MW of solar in Michigan

by Kali Persall

Stellantis, a mobility provider and one of the world’s leading automakers, and DTE Energy, Michigan’s largest producer of and investor in renewable energy, have committed to adding 400 megawatts of new solar projects in Michigan.

The commitment is the second-largest renewable-energy purchase ever made in the United States from a utility and will avoid more than 670,000 metric tons of carbon-dioxide emissions annually. The projects will provide enough clean energy to power about 130,000 homes each year.

With its participation in MIGreenPower, DTE’s MIGreenPower voluntary renewable energy program, Stellantis will be able to attribute 100 percent of its electricity use at 70 southeast Michigan sites to solar by 2026, which will reduce the company’s carbon emissions in North America by 50 percent and across its manufacturing facilities by 30 percent.

DTE’s MIGreenPower program is among the largest voluntary renewable-energy programs in the country. To date
