Carbon emissions, loss of biodiversity and physical risk are some of the environmental risks that are becoming increasingly important to real estate owners and investors. An interview with Olivia Muir, head of sustainability, Real Estate & Private Markets, with UBS Asset Management, titled, “Quantifying carbon and climate risk: Global undersupply of green assets creates intriguing opportunity for real estate investors,” explores how environmental risk is being calculated into portfolios and what the ESG priorities are for investors. In the interview, which was published in the April issue of Institutional Real Estate Americas, Muir says, “We are running scenario analyses on today’s carbon price as x, but in the future, the best estimates are that it will be eight times that.
