SC Capital Partners aims to raise $550m for Japanese hotel fund

by Kali Persall

SC Capital Partners is seeking to raise $550 million for a new fund targeting Japanese hotels, according to Reuters.

The Singapore-based asset manager is planning to start investing in hotels, hotel management platforms and travel-related companies as soon as the fund is raised.

Potential investors will include institutional investors in Japan and overseas, such as insurance groups, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

The fundraise is expected to reach completion by the end of this year.

“I believe very strongly that the trend of foreign visitors coming to Japan will recover and gather strength and continue for a very long time,” Suchad Chiaranussati, chairman and founder of SC Capital Partners, told Reuters. “And among all the Asia Pacific markets, today I am most optimistic on the recovery of tourism in Japan.”

SC Capital Partners did not respond to IREI’s request for comment at the time of publication.
